The Real-Life Private Eye
CNN

In November of 1999 Bruce Robertson, founder of Tristar Investigation, was featured on CNN Worldwide show Showbiz Today with Gloria Hillard. The report was about an ABC television show called "Snoops", which was a glitzy send-up of life at a detective agency owned and run by actress Gina Gershon's character.

The piece juxtaposed the fantasy private eye world of the television show with real-life at an actual detective agency. CNN shot the detective agency segment at the Tristar Investigation headquarters in Los Angeles, interviewing Robertson and showing his staff at work. The segment included the demonstration of a covert "pager cam" in which a Tristar agent filmed the reporter and crew while they were filming the agent.
